National coach Paul Van Himst and the Red Devils caricatures

They ordered a caricature of the Belgian coach who played soccer on a soccer table. I thought it was a nice challenge, I turned it into a table with the heads of the entire Red Devils team from that time.
I was lucky, the caricatures worked out easily, no player caused me much trouble, ... but in the end I was also unlucky... the drawing has disappeared!

I was quite proud of this drawing. UNFORTUNATELY... THE ORIGINAL NEVER RETURNED from the print shop!
Was it lost? Or could a fanatic football fan not resist the temptation and took the drawing with him? I don't know...

Luckily I still had my preparatory sketches! :-)

Some training schedules... (I don't really know anything about that)... I'm trying to make it a bit funny :-)

The bodies are all the same per rod, which saves a lot of work!

...but all heads are unique! That's where the most work goes!...
I sketch the heads randomly in terms of size, only the resemblance is important now...

Finally, a quick color test on a 50 percent photocopy...
so that I felt confident when I started painting with watercolor on Steinbach paper.
Unfortunately, the painting has been lost, as I said earlier...

Luckily I still have a printed copy! Not the best quality, rather pale, but better than nothing...
... Somehow I still hope that the drawing will show up again, but after so many years? ... Not much chance!
